How We Help

Simple. Personalised. Ongoing. Your support journey from first contact through to long-term care.

How It Works

Three simple steps to real support

We've designed our process to be as low-pressure as possible. Here's what happens when you reach out.

A veteran relaxed at home, ready to reach out for support

Reach Out

Call, email or fill in our short contact form. A real person will get back to you within one business day. Usually much sooner. No automated systems, no waiting queues.

Personalised Assessment

We sit down with you in person, on the phone or over video, to understand what you actually need. No forms, just a chat. Your first conversation is relaxed and pressure-free.

Ongoing Support

We build a plan around you and stay in touch. You'll always have someone in your corner, not just when something goes wrong. You're in control at every step.

Common Questions

Questions we hear most often

If your question isn't here, just get in touch — we'd rather speak with you than have you go without support.

No. You do not need a DVA card, a referral from a GP or any other organisation, or any formal documentation to contact us. We work with all current and former ADF members and their families, regardless of service length, DVA registration status, or the nature of your service.
Our core support services are provided free of charge to eligible veterans and families. Some specialist referrals (for example, to psychologists or financial planners) may involve costs that are covered by DVA or Medicare. We'll always be upfront with you about any costs before they arise — there will never be any surprises.
Yes. We provide support services across every state and territory in Australia — including regional and remote areas. While some services may be delivered by phone or video where in-person isn't possible, we make every effort to meet veterans and families where they are.
That's completely fine — and honestly, it's how most people come to us. You don't need to arrive with a clear picture of what you need. Our first conversation is simply about listening. We'll ask questions, understand your situation, and help you identify what kind of support would actually make a difference for you.
We aim to respond to all initial contacts within one business day — and usually much sooner. If you are in immediate distress or crisis, please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Open Arms on 1800 011 046, who provide 24/7 support.
Yes. This is one of the things we feel most strongly about. You will be matched with one dedicated team member who will be your primary point of contact. They will know your history, your circumstances, and your goals — and you'll never have to re-explain yourself to a new caseworker.
Yes. All information you share with us is kept strictly confidential and handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988. We will never share your information with a third party without your explicit consent, except in circumstances where we are legally required to do so or where there is an immediate risk to your safety or the safety of others.
Absolutely. Family members, partners, and carers often reach out on behalf of a veteran — particularly when the veteran themselves isn't yet ready to ask for help. We can speak with you about what support is available, what options exist, and how to gently encourage your loved one to connect with us when they're ready.
